How to print a WhatsApp QR code that scans

A QR code that looks fine can still fail on paper. These checks avoid most problems:

Print it at least 2 x 2 cm (about 0.8 inches). For posters and windows, scale it up; the code stays sharp as an SVG.
Keep dark modules on a light background. Inverted or low contrast codes scan badly.
Leave a blank border around the code, about four modules wide. The downloads already include it.
Test it with two different phones before printing a large batch.
Put a short instruction next to it, such as "Scan to chat on WhatsApp".

PNG or SVG

Use PNG for websites, social posts and documents. Pick 1024 px if it will be shown large. Use SVG when a printer or designer needs vector artwork, because it scales to any size without blurring.

No. The QR code encodes the wa.me link directly, so it keeps working as long as the number is active on WhatsApp.

Can I track how many people scan it?

Not with a plain QR code, because it opens WhatsApp directly. To count scans you need a redirect link you control and a QR code that points to it.

Is this the same as the QR code inside the WhatsApp app?

No. The QR code inside the app is for adding a contact. This one opens a chat with your number, and can include a pre-filled message.

Can I change the color?

Yes. Choose a dark color so the code keeps strong contrast against the white background.

Is it free for commercial use?
